Getting to Know Toxins

Toxins damage our enzymes and affect our bodily functions. They can impact our body’s ability to prevent free-radical damage - free radicals are unstable molecules that can cause damage to the cells in our body and can occur due to metabolic processes and age as well as environmental stressors – such as toxins.
It is a minefield out there when it comes to toxins and getting to know what they are and the impact they have on our overall health - our hormones, immunity, inflammation etc and it can be overwhelming. The idea is to keep things simple and consume what you can in its most natural state in regards to food – whole, seasonal foods, organic where possible and at least start to get educated on where our food comes from and what toxins could be present.
In terms of toxic overload we all can overindulge from time to time – too much food, the wrong kind of food, booze, too much digital and tech, busy lifestyles with not enough down time - and our body needs a reset and a clean out to rebalance. Detoxes, intermittent fasting, switching to clean and green living, going Low Tox long term and even a Metox (it’s a thing - self care + time out for yourself) are good options to reduce the inflammatory stress on our body and our systems as a result of being too toxic.
